Trailer Warranty
Every new trailer sold by Halco Trailers is built at our Warragul factory and backed by a written warranty. This page explains what is covered, how long the cover lasts, and the steps to follow if something goes wrong.
Warranty Coverage at a Glance
- Structural warranty: 12 months from the date of purchase for private use, or 6 months for commercial use.
- Trailer parts warranty: 6 months from the date of purchase under normal use. This covers jockey wheels, bearings, tyres, wheels and brake pads.
- Reporting window: any initial fault must be reported to Halco Trailers within 7 days of pickup.
What Is Covered
The structural warranty applies to defects in materials or workmanship in the trailer’s main structure, including the chassis, drawbar, body and welds, when the trailer has been used and maintained as intended.
The parts warranty applies to jockey wheels, bearings, tyres, wheels and brake pads that fail under normal use within 6 months of purchase.
What Is Not Covered
- Wear items that wear down through ordinary use.
- Damage caused by overloading, exceeding the trailer’s rated GVM or ATM, or incorrect loading.
- Accident, collision or impact damage.
- Damage from misuse, neglect, or a lack of regular maintenance, including unserviced bearings.
- Modifications or repairs made by anyone other than Halco Trailers or without our written approval.
- Rust or paint damage caused by scratches, chips, chemicals, salt or exposure left unattended.
- Faults reported more than 7 days after pickup, where the fault was present at the time of collection.
How to Make a Warranty Claim
- Stop using the trailer. If the fault affects safety, such as a wheel, brake, coupling or structural issue, do not tow the trailer until it has been checked.
- Collect your details. Have your order confirmation email, tax invoice, trailer VIN or serial number and registration number ready.
- Take clear photos or video. Show the fault, the affected area, and the trailer as a whole.
- Contact Halco Trailers. Call or email us within the warranty period. For a fault that was present at pickup, contact us within 7 days of collecting the trailer.
- Bring the trailer in for assessment. We will arrange a time for you to bring the trailer to our factory and yard in Warragul. Our team will inspect it and confirm whether the fault is covered.
- Repair, replacement or outcome. If the claim is approved, we will repair or replace the faulty part or component at no charge. If it is not approved, we will explain why and quote any repair work before starting.
Before You Pick Up Your Trailer
Please check the following with our team at pickup, and report anything you find straight away.

- Tyres, wheels and wheel nuts are in good order and a spare wheel is included where listed.
- Coupling, safety chains and jockey wheel operate correctly.

Recommended Maintenance
Regular care protects your warranty and keeps your trailer safe on the road.
- Before each trip: check tyre pressure, lights, coupling, safety chains and load restraints.
- After the first 500 km: re-torque the wheel nuts.
- Every 6 months or 5,000 km: inspect and repack or service the wheel bearings and check the brakes where fitted.
- Every 12 months: have the trailer given a full safety inspection, and touch up any paint chips to prevent rust.
